Whether it’s a capital campaign or the launching of strategic initiatives, if you are looking for tools and creative ideas for campaign execution during a pandemic, and beyond, this conversation is for you. Moderated by Essex & Drake Fundraising Counsel President, Chelsey Souza, CFRE, we’ll hear from Tiona Brady, CFRM, Executive Director of the Alameda County Library Foundation, and Miquette Thompson, MNA, CFRE. Chelsey, Tiona, and Miquette will share their insights and unique experiences executing successful philanthropic campaigns during a pandemic. Attendees will learn effective and creative strategies for cultivating and soliciting prospective donors, managing volunteers, managing the campaign, marketing and communicating about the campaign, and more!

Speakers

Chelsey Souza President & Owner, Essex & Drake Fundraising Counsel

Since entering the social sector in 2001, Chelsey has worked as a staff member, volunteer, and consultant at robust organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Californians for Justice, and Community Solutions. In 2011, she joined the Essex & Drake team and in 2016 became president of the firm. Chelsey specializes in capital campaign feasibility/planning studies, individual major giving, and board engagement.

Chelsey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies from California State University, Chico, and a Certificate of Italian Language and Literature from the University of Pisa. In 2002, she completed Fundraising School through the Center on Philanthropy at University of Indiana, and in 2008 received a Certified Fundraising Executive credential from CFRE International. In 2019, Chelsey was named Outstanding Professional Fundraiser by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Silicon Valley Chapter.


Tiona Brady Executive Director, CFRM, Alameda County Library Foundation

With nearly 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit industry, Tiona is a highly creative and innovative nonprofit management professional currently serving as Executive Director of the Alameda County Library Foundation. Tiona is passionate about social change and is skilled in donor cultivation, fund development, annual campaign methodologies, volunteer engagement, and creating lasting strategic community partnerships.


Miquette Thompson MNA, CFRE, Senior Consultant, Essex & Drake Fundraising Counsell

With nearly 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Miquette Thompson is a skilled fundraising consultant focused on helping organizations find practical solutions to mobilize resources. Miquette has successfully fundraised and built development capacity for a wide range of nonprofits, from direct human services providers, to intermediary grantmakers, to arts and advocacy organizations. In addition to her expertise in development, Miquette has training and extensive experience creating philanthropic solutions with a lens on racial equity and social justice.
