Looking for ways to find interns to support your nonprofit? This information session will provide nonprofits with an overview of three local programs that provide subsidized internship opportunities and help you place interns within your organization.

Santa Clara County CalWORKS Employment Services (CWES) will be presenting on the Intern and Earn Program (I&E) Internships - Employment Connection - County of Santa Clara (sccgov.org). The I&E program is a paid internship opportunity for CalWORKS, CalFresh and current/former foster care youth ages 16-24 to be placed at a non-profit, business, or County Department to gain experience, earn money, and motivate them for continued education. Placements are made based on the youth’s interest, the County is the employer of record and pays the participant to work for up 8 weeks, 30 hours per week and the interns and worksites receive support and coaching from CWES Employment Counselors.The Fall 2023 cohort runs from October-December and Summer cohort is from June – August 2024.Santa Clara County CalWORKS Employment Services (CWES) provide employment support for families receiving CalWORKS including job search, employer/job development, childcare, transportation, and resources to help strengthen families in Santa Clara County to achieve self-sufficiency. The LAEP is a 10-year program offering eligible students at public colleges and universities the opportunity to earn additional state financial aid to help defray their educational costs while gaining quality, education-aligned, career-related employment.
LAEP allows participating students placement in an educationally beneficial position that relates to the student's area of study, career objective, or the exploration of career objectives. The program includes and emphasizes positions for students with employers that are capable of providing them with full-time employment opportunities after graduation, or opportunities to connect with other employers that are capable of providing them with full-time employment opportunities after graduation, within their areas of study. Leavey School of Business Community Fellows Program, Santa Clara University (SCU)
The Leavey School of Business Community Fellows Program places talented and committed undergraduate business students in paid, year-long internships at nonprofit and government organizations. Fellows also enroll in a year-long academic experience to reflect on and explore social justice and economic issues.
Through hands-on, community-based learning opportunities, LSB Community Fellows:
The LSB Community Fellows Program currently partners with 8 nonprofit and government organizations. Partners work with the program to develop a business focused academic year internship that includes project work, mentoring and opportunities to get involved with the community members served by the organization. Students work 8-10 hours/week at their placements from September - June. Learn more about LSB Community Fellows Program.
