This workshop creates an opportunity for participants to build competencies in recognizing the social and political dimensions of language and language access, in order to dismantle language barriers, equalize power dynamics, and build strong communities for social and racial justice.
Speaker:
Delrisha White is a dynamic social impact leader who confronts educational inequity, racial, and socioeconomic injustice through education and storytelling. Her life’s work is a culmination of her experience growing up in a family impacted by poverty, as well as the criminal justice and child welfare systems. Delrisha uses storytelling to facilitate critical conversations that promote healing and enlightenment. She is adept at training organizational leaders in leading from a racial equity lens.
Delrisha sits on the board of Pact Adoption Alliance where she supports transracial-blended families experiencing the foster-adoption system(s). She is a proud aunt, Bay Area native, and graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she earned her master degree in Education Policy and Management as well as the Intellectual Contribution Award.
