Nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Supervisors Betty Duong and Margaret Abe-Koga about the needs and concerns of their communities and organizations. Attendees will also learn about the ideas, visions, and priorities of Santa Clara County's newest supervisors.
SVCN team members Kylie Clark and Gianella Ordoñez will facilitate rotating group dialogue sessions. Come prepared with questions and anything you want to share with the Supervisors!
Please be aware that in order to allow for meaningful dialogue among attendees, we have capped attendance. Additionally, whereas the event is open to all nonprofits, SVCN members have priority admission. Lastly, to keep this event interactive, please send only one person from your organization.

Betty Duong was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors representing District Two in November 2024. A lifelong resident and daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, she is the first Vietnamese American and first Asian American woman to serve on the Board. Her family arrived after the Viet Nam War and rebuilt their lives in East San Jose. Prior to her election, Betty has worked over a decade for the County, managing the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement and the Vietnamese American Service Center, and guiding the creation of the County’s language access policy and Language Access Unit. In 2016, she led the successful Measure A campaign, which secured a $950 million bond dedicated to affordable housing.
Margaret was born at Stanford Hospital and raised in San Mateo by immigrant parents from Japan. As a child, she became their translator, an experience that exposed her to discrimination and compelled her to ensure all people regardless of background have a voice in our communities. She attended public schools K-12, and after graduating from Harvard in 1992, she joined Congresswoman Anna Eshoo’s district office staff. Margaret began elected service as a Trustee for Area 1 on Santa Clara County Board of Education and later joined the Mountain View City Council in 2006. She served as Vice Mayor in 2008 and 2019, and as the city’s first Asian American female Mayor in 2009 and again in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SVCN strives to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please email Marvah Gorlorwulu at [email protected] by August 11.
