Join SVCN and San José City Councilmembers for an in-person Nonprofit Meet & Greet!
Nonprofits will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, highlight the work of their organization, and engage in dialogue about the needs and concerns of their communities and organizations. Attendees will also have the chance to hear more about Councilmembers' vision for their role and opportunities for nonprofit collaboration.
This Meet & Greet is intended for nonprofits throughout Santa Clara County. Space is limited but there is a waitlist. Reserve your spot by registering today!

In June 2022, Rosemary Kamei was elected to the San José City Council with over 60% of the popular vote. She was officially sworn into office as of January 2023 to represent District 1 in West San José and nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by her colleagues on the City Council to serve as Vice Mayor. District 1 borders the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Santa Clara and Saratoga, which encompasses the Winchester neighborhoods and Santana Row, to Westgate, De Anza Boulevard and Stevens Creek areas.
Prior to her election into the City Council, Rosemary has long been known for her public service and contributions, something she has always prioritized. She feels privileged to have spent 17 years as a Director of the Santa Clara Valley Water District and serving seven years as Trustee at the Santa Clara County Board of Education. She has always been involved with the community through various nonprofits, the business sector and serving on various government committees. Rosemary also served as the Chief Development and Innovation Officer at the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.
Rosemary holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San José State University.
Councilmember Doan’s family immigrated to America in 1975 and he will never forget the generosity provided to his family by their neighbors. It was at that young age, that he made a promise to to give back to his community through public service.
Bien earned a degree in Project Management, another in Psychiatric Tech LVN, and he worked at Agnews as a Psychiatric Tech.
Councilmember Doan was a firefighter for the past 27 years and worked his way up to become the first Vietnamese Fire Captain in the history of the San Jose Fire Department. He believes that the American Dream is possible for everyone through hard work and dedication.
Bien Doan is honored to represent the 7th City Council District of San Jose, CA and is working hard to unite our community, improve our safety, and make our neighborhoods cleaner for everyone.
Arjun Batra is the councilmember of the San José City Council for District 10. He holds an MBA degree and has extensive international background knowledge gained from working and managing in the technology industry, which enables him to better understand the concerns and issues of his residents and neighbors. He worked at IBM and Intel before retiring and joining former Mayor Sam Liccardo’s Technology and Innovation office as an Encore Fellow. Batra has served the City of San José in various pro-bono roles, including the Smart City Advisory Board and the San Jose Information Technology Advisory Committee. His goal is to make San José the greenest, safest, and most convenient city to live, work and raise a family in. Batra is the first Indian-American on the council since Ash Kalra. Batra and his family have lived in District 10 for over 40 years. His wife, an environmental engineer, is an ESL Instructor at MetroEd Adult Education Center, while his two sons are alumni of Leland High School, University of California – Berkeley, Columbia, and Harvard Law Schools.
