Moderator and Panelists

Chad Bojorquez Chief Program Officer, Destination:Home

Chad is a mission-driven change agent dedicated to ending homelessness. As a volunteer, he was awarded the Silver Bowl Award from the Junior League of San Jose, the Community Quarterback Award from the San Francisco 49ers, and Bank of America’s Local Hero Award in 2011. As a case manager at InnVision, he crafted his approach helping women and families toward self-sufficiency through homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing. Chad also played a critical role in the growth of Downtown Streets Team in terms of size, scope, impact and geography. Over five years, he helped craft a whatever-it-takes approach to case management and employment services, co-founded a social enterprise as a living-wage job creation platform, and launched an East Bay branch of the organization. The Golden State Warriors and the San Jose mayor’s office named Chad as their 2015 Champion in the Community.

Chad is a senior fellow of American Leadership Forum, a graduate of Leadership San Jose, a two-time Most Valuable Player in the international sport power soccer, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business psychology from Palo Alto University.

Aubrey Merriman Chief Executive Officer, Life Moves

Prior to joining LifeMoves, Aubrey has served as the CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County, where he led the agency through a period of unprecedented growth. Under his leadership, the agency was recognized with many awards, including the South San Francisco Mayor’s Award, the Outstanding Community Service Organization Award from the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce, Club Advocacy Champion, and League of Eagles Gold Awards from Boys & Girls Clubs of America*. Aubrey was one of 15 researchers from throughout the country selected to attend the prestigious Community Fellows Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Aubrey moved to the Bay Area in 1999, accepting the ED position with Camp Fire USA, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.

Shana Peete Chief Executive Officer, Center for Excellence in Nonprofits (CEN)

Prior to joining CEN in 2019, Shana served as the founding executive director of a Tri-Valley nonprofit dedicated to offering individuals and families a hand up from poverty. She has a Bachelor of Science in international business and a Doctor of Jurisprudence. In light of COVID-19 and the social uprising in support of Black lives, Shana, a community activist, was tapped to serve as moderator for a three-city panel on Racial Inequity in City Government and Policing featuring nine government officials. Shana served as a board member and the membership committee chair for the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance. Her passion is creating avenues for others who, like her, are members of groups historically excluded from board service in the nonprofit and for-profit worlds. With a focus on IDEAL (inclusion, diversity, equity, access and liberation), she consults with individuals and organizations alike to ensure their preparedness for this unprecedented level of openness and opportunity to learn and grow in greater partnership than ever before.
