Talking with Your Community about Vaccine

Your Help is Needed: Resources and Best Practices for

Vaccine Community Outreach

Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:30am to 1:00pm

Learn strategies about how to talk to the community members you serve about the vaccine, including those who might have concerns or are experiencing barriers. Also learn how to assist your clients and participants in actually getting vaccinated --  find vaccination site locations and pop ups, support with booking appointments, and get transportation assistance. This session is designed for nonprofit staff who engage directly with the communities they serve.

Objectives of this session are to:

  • Learn facts about vaccines and vaccine logistics
  • Find appropriate messages and collateral developed by Santa Clara County's Public Health Department that you can use
  • Learn communication strategies from representatives of communities who might have culturally-based or other reservations about getting vaccinated; hear culturally-relevant vaccine messages
  • Make a commitment to help get the word out on how/where and why getting the vaccine is important
  • Get your vaccine questions answered by County Public Health representatives

Speakers include:

  • Michele Lew, CEO, The Health Trust
  • Brian Darrow, Program Manager in the Office of the Santa Clara County Executive; Emergency Operations Center Vaccine Outreach Branch Director
